Sharia Economics Study Program Holds Industrial Visit to Strengthen Students' Entrepreneurial Spirit

WATAMPONE, 2 JULY 2026 – In an effort to align lecture theory with the realities of the world of work, the Sharia Economics Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) IAIN Bone successfully held a Business World Visit to the Industrial World (DUDI). The activity, which was participated in by students, was focused on Cocovela, one of the business units that is currently developing rapidly.

This educational visit was guided directly by the accompanying lecturer, Dr. Sitti Nikmah Marzuki, S.EI., M.E. His presence ensures that students do not just visit, but are able to comprehensively dissect business strategies from a sharia economic perspective.

This DUDI Visit activity is designed to provide in-depth insight (field experience) for students regarding operational management, marketing strategies, and contemporary business governance.

Dr. Sitti Nikmah Marzuki, S.EI., M.E., in her direction said that direct experience in the field is very crucial for Sharia Economics students so that they do not stutter when entering society after graduation. "Studying economics should not just stop in the classroom or reading textbooks. Through this visit to Cocovela, we want students to see firsthand how a business ecosystem is built, managed and maintained amidst dynamic market competition," said Dr. Sitti Nikmah.

The choice of Cocovela as an industrial visit partner was not without reason. As a business actor, Cocovela is considered to have a business model that is relevant, innovative and adaptive to current market trends.

During the visit, the group from FEBI was warmly welcomed by Cocovela management. Students are invited to:

  1. Field Observation: Directly observing daily processes, supply chains, and service standardization.

  2. Discussion Session and Sharing Session: Students have the opportunity to have an interactive dialogue regarding business challenges, risk management, and how Cocovela maintains consumer loyalty.

  3. Sharia Analysis: Reviewing the implementation of business ethics, transparency and implicit muamalah agreements in the modern business world ecosystem.

Through this activity, FEBI—especially the Sharia Economics Study Program—is committed to continuing to strengthen synergy with the industrial world. It is hoped that this visit will trigger a creative stimulus for students to start their own business (start-up) with a strong foundation of Islamic values.

The DUDI visit event closed with a photo session with the owner of lCocovela as a form of appreciation for the knowledge and openness provided to the academic world.

With the implementation of this agenda, the steps taken by the Sharia Economics study program towards the vision of producing graduates who are superior, globally competitive and have Islamic integrity have become increasingly visible.
